As the government shutdown continues tourists are feeling the effects as the National Parks remain closed. 
The government is still closed for business.
As Americans from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles are feeling serious the effects of furloughs to the trivial of not being able to watch the National Zoo’s panda cam, another group who are feeling the aftermath are tourists.
Since the shutdown tourists from around the country have been turned away from the nation’s National Parks. On Tuesday, Yosemite wasn’t able to properly celebrate its 123because it was closed. School children are being turned away from the Grand Canyon and Smithsonian. And all special use permits for hunting, hiking, even weddings have been revoked in the 400 sites run by the National Park Service, leaving 715,000 tourists a day looking for new plans. “The National Parks are the places where people are most acutely feeling the shutdown,” Grayson Schaffer senior editor from Outside Magazine said on Wednesday’s show.
One national park that is hitting New York tourists is Liberty Island. “We had tickets to see the crown at the Statue of Liberty for Tuesday and it was it reserved two months in advance and it shut down on Tuesday so we didn’t get to see it,” a tourists told Cycle co-host Abby Huntsman when she took to the streets of New York to find out Americans thoughts on the shutdown.
