“It was the greatest moment I have experienced as an American,” he said on Wednesday’s Morning Joe, recalling covering the event for the Washington Star.

“Nobody I think actually quite understood the gravity of what he was saying, the gravity of the moment,” he said. “This was a moment in American history when black, white, unions, people of good will, came together including some great Southern whites and said ‘this is enough.’”
