An event designed to inspire brides-to-be is also helping contribute to a nonprofit that supports women going through cancer treatment.

The young designers at the Maryland Academy of Couture Arts are prepping for a big show. They, along with local bridal salons, are taking part in the first-of-a-kind bridal show called "Cinderella: A Fairy Tale Wedding."

"It's an experience for the brides and their guests to come with them. It's not your traditional pipe and drape booths. They're coming to an experience. They get to enjoy fantastic hors d'oeuvres, champagne, lighting, custom linens, flowers and then this phenomenal fashion show," said Karen Buck of Wedding 411.

Aside from the bling and swag, all of the proceeds go to the nonprofit Brides Against Breast Cancer.

"What they do is they help families that have the need -- they've been affected by this. There are many programs that can help if they need some financial aid. That's what they're there for," Buck said.

Three-year breast cancer survivor Maria Kaczaniuk said it's something that will go a long way toward helping patients through a difficult time.

"We think it's only the person involved, but it isn't. It's people around them that are involved. They need support, and there are many issues there, depending on the individual and what their needs are, and I think this organization can be there for them. That means a whole lot from my experience," Kaczaniuk said.

She helped arrange the event at the Castle at Maryvale in Timonium. The show will be held Oct. 2-3 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Event-goers can get ideas about items like accessories, shoes, and décor, as well as a chance to buy some of the wedding gowns on display. At least one will also be auctioned off.

"The Cinderella Dream Gown -- the final gown of the event -- is the one that's going to be auctioned off for Brides Against Breast Cancer. I'm very excited and very happy to do that," designer Ella Pritsker said.

Organizers said they hope to raise $10,000 for the nonprofit.
