The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Lenovo are recalling about 50,500 Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop computers because they could overheat and catch fire.
The CPSC said Thursday that there's been one report of a fire and another involving smoke, but no injuries were involved.
Consumers should stop using the PCs, unplug the power supply and contact Lenovo to determine if their computer is included in the recall. The affected computers were sold from May 2010 through January 2012.
The desktop computers being recalled have flat-panel monitors with the computer built into the monitor. "ThinkCentre" is printed on the lower left-hand corner of the monitor front. They are model numbers M90z and M70z with date codes 1001 to 1012, 1101 to 1112, 001 to 012 and 101 to 112.
But only certain M70z and M90z computers are affected, and consumers will need to check the serial number on their computer with Lenovo to determine if it's subject to the recall. The serial number and manufacturing date code are on a label on the bottom of the unit.
Lenovo will replace the affected computers' power supplies for free, the CPSC said.
