So much for a clean getaway.
Police say an armed man robbed a Lauderhill, Fla., CVS but was caught after he inadvertently left a trail of stolen cash behind him on his way to a laundromat.
The robbery happened at the CVS in the 5500 block of Oakland Park Blvd. around 9:30 p.m. Police say the man fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
But apparently the careless thief didn't have a tight hold on the loot and left a trail of money behind as he ran down the street.
Officers followed the trail of cash to the laundromat, where the unidentified suspect was arrested. Police found the gun that was believed to have been used in the robbery in a dryer.
Startled customers said the man seemed suspicious as he made his way through the laundromat.
"He went in there, ran around the side, saw me, turned around and ran back toward the bathroom, stripped his shirt off and walked out like he was a customer in the laundromat," said witness Michael Gove.
