With just a little over a week of campaigning to go before the first votes are cast in the 2004 president contest in the Iowa caucuses, MSNBC will televise a debate between eight of the nine Democratic hopefuls on Sunday.

Organized by the Iowa Brown-Black Presidential Forum, the debate will air from 8 to 10 p.m. ET. The forum is a non-partisan organization concerned with minority issues and is chaired by Latino leader Mary Campos and Iowa State Rep. Wayne Ford. MSNBC anchor Lester Holt and Telemundo anchor Maria Celeste Arrarás will serve as moderators.

MSNBC.com will provide full coverage and analysis of the event on its home page and in the politics section of the Web site.
Candidates who are expected to appear are Carol Moseley Braun, Howard Dean, John Edwards, Dick Gephardt, John Kerry, Joe Lieberman, Dennis Kucinich and Al Sharpton. A ninth candidate, Wesley Clark, is not scheduled to attend.

The Iowa Brown-Black Presidential Forum is a nonpartisan group that was founded by Campos and Ford in 1984. This is the fifth Brown-Black debate. MSNBC first telecast the debate in 2000 with Democratic candidates Al Gore and Bill Bradley.

The Iowa caucuses will be held Jan. 19.
