One of three men suspected of eluding police earlier this week after stealing more than a half-million dollars worth of jewelry from a Laguna Beach shop has been taken into custody, authorities said.

Alonso Jose Lopez, 31, of Vista, who police said has a history of violent crime, is believed to have been involved in robbing Baca's Jewelry Store on Tuesday. The three men led police on a short chase after the armed robbery, which ended in an Aliso Viejo shopping center, where they were able to escape a police search.
