Photographer Taryn Simon has published “The Innocents,” a collection of photographs of people freed on DNA evidence after having been wrongly convicted and incarcerated. With the photos are descriptions of the situations that led them to be convicted and also commentary by attorney Barry Scheck. Scheck is the co-founder of The Innocence Project, a group dedicated to proving the innocence of the wrongly convicted through the testing of DNA evidence relevant to the case. After appearing on NBC’s Today show, Scheck joined MSNBC.com to answer questions from the public about the work he does, the people he’s helped, and the politics surrounding the American justice system.
