Six men charged with terrorism and firearms offenses appeared in a London court on Thursday, including three accused of attending training camps in England.

Another man was later charged with multiple counts of incitement to murder and giving terrorist training, while an eighth was charged with giving and receiving terrorist training.

All the men were arrested in raids across south London at the beginning of September, with 12 individuals arrested in a Chinese restaurant.

Police said the operation was designed to target people suspected of training or recruiting militants.

It included a raid on an independent school for Muslim boys in southern England, where searches continue.

Muhammad Al-Figari, 42, Kadar Ahmed, 19, and an unnamed 17-year old youth appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court in central London.

All three were charged with receiving terrorism training near the Matley Wood Caravan and Camping site in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, and near a farm in Berkshire, west of London.

Al-Figari and the 17-year-old were also charged with possessing “a record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing an act of terrorism.”

All three were remanded in custody and will return to the court on Oct. 12.

Atilla Ahmet, 42, also appeared at the court, facing four charges under the Offences Against the Person Act of encouraging people at meetings to murder others who do not believe in the Islamic faith.

He also faces two charges of publishing statements designed to encourage others to commit acts of terrorism, as well as two charges of possessing information likely to be of use for committing terrorism.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Sept. 29.

Moussa Brown, 40, appeared charged with providing and receiving instruction or training in the making and use of firearms.

He was remanded in custody until his return to the court on Oct. 12.

Saloum Joh, 21, also appeared, charged with possessing a 0.41 caliber short-barreled shotgun, a prohibited weapon under the Firearms Act.

He was remanded in custody until Dec. 7 when he will appear at Middlesex Crown Court.

Mohamed Hamid, 48, faces 12 charges including six of soliciting murder and one of providing terror training.

Kibley Da Costa, 23, faces three charges, one of providing terror training and two receiving terror training.

The raids came three weeks after British police said they had thwarted a plot to bring down U.S.-bound airliners over the Atlantic.

However, police have said the south London arrests were not linked to that suspected plot.
