Actor Ryan Reynolds has nothing but loving words for his friend Taylor Swift after he spent the weekend in New Orleans to see her Eras Tour concert.
Reynolds has attended a few of the shows already with wife, Blake Lively, but he wrote Thursday on Instagram that the New Orleans shows will be a memory he will still talk about well into his 90s. He described the shows as one of the best things he's ever "seen/heard/felt."
"I’ve shot movies in New Orleans most of my career. It’s a special place on a normal day — but this weekend, felt like Super Bowl or Mardi Gras had a baby with music," Reynolds wrote.
Reynolds shared a slideshow of moments from the trip, including taking photos with the mother of Swift's beloved backup dancer Kam Saunders.
Reynolds remarked that he doesn't understand the level of work, care and discipline Swift generates to create such an experience. He called it an "athletic event" and a "cultural phenomenon."
"The main reason I’ll never forget this show is because it brings people together in so many ways," Reynolds wrote. "And in 2024, (where that feeling is scarce as hell) it’s a special and incredibly rare thing."
He added that the "only bummer" is that Swift can't be in the audience herself to be part of what everyone else is feeling and seeing. Even if it were physically possible, Reynolds joked, the tour isn't exactly an event that you can "just get tickets last minute."
Swift's nearly two-year tour comes to an end in December after she performs in Canada. She has performed more than three hours every night of her show, which kicked off in Glendale, Arizona, in March of last year.
She has taken the concerts around the world, including performances in Australia, Japan, Singapore and Europe. A concert film was released in movie theaters around the world, memorializing a version of the show that has since been changed to include performances from Swift's newest album.
After every stop, Swift posts to her Instagram account recounting the performances and thanking the crowds. She wrote Wednesday that she was "still smiling" about the New Orleans shows.
"The city really welcomed us with open arms (with friendship bracelets on those metaphorical arms) and celebrated the tour with such flare," Swift said.
