MIAMI,FL -- April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. In Miami, the non-profit organization Amigos for Kids has been raising awareness in the community for years on the issues through public service announcements, fundraisers and events. More importantly, Amigos for Kids runs workshops in the community to teach parents how to balance family dynamics and discipline in a nurturing way that does not harm a child, explains president and CEO Rosa Maria Placencia.
At a candlelight vigil in Jose Marti Park in Miami, children and adults remembered those who had lost their lives as victims of child abuse, and pledged to continue educating the public that about help available and the need for prevention.
