Alex Jones, a voice of the so-called "alt-right" and perpetrator of conspiracy theories, told listeners that he received a call from President-elect Donald Trump over the weekend thanking Jones and his supporters for aiding in his victory.

The online radio host, who casts doubt on the 2012 Newtown elementary school shooting that left 26 people — mostly children — dead, told listeners that he had received a call from Trump, who also spoke with world leaders from the United Kingdom, Russia, France and China in the days following his win.

"On my way here, Donald Trump gave me a call," Jones explained. "And I told him, 'Mr. President-elect, you're too busy, we don't need to talk,' but we still spent over five minutes."

Trump's transition team did not respond to NBC News' repeated requests for confirmation about the call.

According to Jones' recounting, Trump said, "I just talked to the kings and queens of the world, world leaders, you name it.' But he said, 'It doesn't matter. I wanted to talk to you to thank your audience, and I'll be on in the next few weeks to thank them ... We know what you did early on and throughout this campaign, stand up for what's right, it shows.'"

Jones is known for publishing his conspiracy theories on his Infowars site. In the aftermath of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Jones called it "synthetic" and "completely fake."

Throughout the 2016 campaign, Jones pushed rumors about Hillary Clinton, including that she was on drugs during the first two presidential debates.

Days later, Trump himself wondered aloud if Clinton shouldn't take a drug test before the third and final debate.

Jones also offered $1,000 to supporters pictured on television for at least five seconds wearing a "Bill Clinton rape" T-shirt and $5,000 to anyone who could be heard shouting "Bill Clinton is a rapist" while wearing such a garment.

Jones also said that President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are demons who smell like sulfur.
