The difficult work of the mudslide recovery volunteers becomes even more staggering when you hear them describe it their own words. Below, we've posted an especially emotional excerpt from a press conference with volunteers from the Darrington Fire Department. Jeff McClelland and his wife Jan McClelland recount finding a baby's nursery -- and the "moment of pride" that comes from doing what they can to help grieving families.

In addition, the city of Arlington, Wash., posted a link to the Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation where people can contribute. And the Washington state Combined Fund Drive has launched a special campaign to raise money for the victims.
