According to results from the latest NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking poll conducted July 25 to July 31, 2016, a majority of white voters said they support Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton, 51 percent to 41 percent. An overwhelming majority of black voters (86 percent) said they support Clinton, and only 8 percent of black voters said they support Trump.
The demographic composition of voters has been extremely important to general election voting for some time and it is no different in the 2016 general election. We have seen a large gender gap and significant differences in partisan voting by age, race and ethnicity.
Immigration is a top campaign issue and Hispanic voters will undoubtedly be a key voting bloc in November. This week, 68 percent of those who identify as Hispanic said they support Clinton and 24 percent said they support Trump.
We have been closely examining Hispanic voters throughout the election season and particularly since early May when we began asking the two-way presidential horserace question. After extensive testing regarding Hispanic interviews, we have made some small changes in methodology starting with the latest tracking poll results and, as a result, there has been some movement on trend among Hispanic voters.
