How did you get here?
I spent my first years out of law school at a big firm, learning how to be a lawyer, but I wanted to try something else after a few years. One coffee led to another, and eventually I found my way into the Office of Presidential Personnel (PPO) as a vetting attorney, which was a really intriguing first role. After that, I became an appointee at the Department of Justice, and then PPO asked me to return in this latest role.
Who or what has been the greatest influence on your career?
When I was first starting out, I became friends with a small group of women who are all wonderful and talented in their own ways. We've all gone on to do different things, and I've learned so much from talking to them over the years about their choices, successes, and challenges. They have been a consistent source of inspiration for me.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment during the Obama administration?
I'm particularly proud to be part of the team that has ushered in the most diverse administration staff in history.
