Arizona Republican Gov. Jan Brewer has announced she's not running for re-election in 2014.

Arizona law allows the governor to serve only two consecutive terms, but Brewer's team had argued that the limit didn't apply to her, since she didn't serve a full term after succeeding then-Gov. Janet Napolitano. Napolitano left the post to become President Barack Obama's Homeland Security secretary.

There's a crowded field of Republicans running to succeed Brewer, who made national news recently after she vetoed legislation that some said allowed businesses to discriminate against gays and lesbians.
