Jennifer Lopez is a powerhouse actress, singer, producer and businesswoman, and now all eyes are on her much-anticipated NBC drama 'Shades of Blue,' premiering this week.

Lopez plays a detective and single mother who is an FBI informant against her own unit. She says what she likes about the drama is that it's very human. "People at their core are good but we do things that are questionable all the time, we make bad decisions and then we have to live with them."

Lopez, 46, says it's important to her that she is so active and involved and has not been "written off" because she is no longer in her 20s.

"It's important to me - Don't write us off at a certain moment in our lives. We have so much to offer," said JLo, who told Today's Natalie Morales she knows so much more about herself in her 40s than when she was in her 20s and 30s.

JLo is headlining a Vegas show later this month, "All I Have." Lopez says it will give her an opportunity to be closer to her audience and let them get to know her.

The Puerto Rican powerhouse, mom to 7-year-old twins, said her son and daughter have "made my life better - they just change your perspective on the whole entire world and how you look at life."

"Shades of Blue" premieres Thursday, Jan. 7 at 10pET on NBC.
