Students and workers at Ohio State University were warned late Monday that an “anonymous threat of violence” to the campus had been posted online, but no details were given.
The university did not explain the nature of the threat, except that it referred to Tuesday.
The Ohio State Department of Public Safety sent a mass email “out of an abundance of caution,” asking recipients to “be observant and aware.”
“OSU Police are working alongside law enforcement partners to investigate the threat and take all appropriate measures to keep the campus safe,” it said, noting only that the threat “was posted online.”
More than 60,000 students are enrolled at the Columbus-based facility, according to its website.
An overnight update from the university said all campuses were open and operating as normal despite the threat.
The warning comes after universities “near Philadelphia” were threatened on Oct. 4, according to an FBI alert, but no violence transpired.
