In what will likely go down as one of the most memorable debate moments of the 2016 race, Bernie Sanders told Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!”

Clinton shook Sanders hand amid raucous applause in what has been one of the few cordial moments between the two frontrunners in the Democratic presidential primary.

Before Sanders' comment, Clinton offered her standard defense of the email controversy that has dominated much of her campaign.

“I've taken responsibility for it. I did say it was a mistake,” she said.

“I am still standing. I am happy to be part of this debate and I intend to keep talking about the issues that matter to the American people,” she added.
