The 16th Annual Latin Grammy nominations were announced Wednesday and Mexican singer-songwriter Leonel García is leading with six nominations this year.

Garcia, who was a member of the former popular group Sin Bandera, was nominated for record of the year for “Ella Es,” and song of the year (a song-writers award) for “Recuerdas.”

He was also nominated for a second song of the year for “Hasta La Raíz,” which he composed with Natalia Lafourcade, who has five nominations, including record of the yYear for the same song.

Dominican singer-songwriter, composer and producer Juan Luis Guerra and Spanish crooner Alejandro Sanz, both received four nominations. Guerra is nominated for Record of the Year for “Tus Besos,” and Sanz for “Un Zombie A La Intemperie.”

Other artists nominated are Pablo Alborán, Miguel Bosé, Café Quijano, Pedro Capó, Nicky Jam, Ricky Martin, and Vicentico with three nominations each. Music engineers Edgar Barrera, Demián Nava, and Alan Saucedo; and producer Cachorro López each received four nominations.

Kaay, Iván "Melón" Lewis, Manu Manzo, Matisse, Monsieur Periné, Julieta Rada, Tulipa Ruiz, Raquel Sofía, Vázquez Sounds, and Vitrola Sintética are nominated for the best new artist award.

The 16th Annual Latin Grammy will be held Thursday, November 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
