Chief White House Florist Laura Dowling had been escorted from the White House after her resignation earlier this year, according to a Washington Post report Monday.
In an upcoming episode of NBC’s PRESS Pass with Chuck Todd, author of the new book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House Kate Andersen Brower discussed the implications of the incident. “Nobody who is a Chief Florist, Chief Chef, in one of those top positions would be let go or leave suddenly without [the First Lady] knowing about it,” Brower said.
Brower also suggested that it was not a decision the Chief Florist would have made on her own, saying, “Certainly the First Lady had an issue with either the aesthetic or the management.” Brower’s book will be available April 7th.
