Rep Mark Sanford, R-S.C., on Wednesday called the accusations made against him by his ex-wife in their divorce "preposterous, crazy and wrong."
Attorneys for his ex-wife, Jenny Sanford, requested the former South Carolina governor undergo psychiatric tests and take anger management and parenting courses, the Associated Press reported. The legal claim also is attempting to limit his visitation rights with their youngest child.
“It seems that nothing I can do at this point is enough, appropriate or adequate,” Sanford said in a statement. “The different accusations and requests made are, by their very nature preposterous, crazy, and wrong.”
After disappearing to Argentina for seven days and admitting to an affair with Maria Belen Chapur in 2009, Sanford's wife filed for divorce, and Sanford proposed to Chapur in 2012.
