Seven-year-old Maher Abdul Wahab’s home was destroyed Thursday morning during the ongoing Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. The intended target of the airstrike was an adjacent 4-story building believed to house a member of Hamas. It collapsed in the attack, also damaging Abdul Wahab’s home.

Abdul Wahab and his family managed to flee ten minutes before the shelling, having received a warning from Israel. Despite the stifling heat, he covered himself in cushions and pillows in order to feel safe.

Abdul Wahab's extended family all lived in the building, which was home to over 30 children alone.

The targeted Hamas member fled days ago and was not home at the time of the airstrike.
