An SUV plowed through a lakeside house and partway into the water east of Seattle on Friday afternoon, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
A 68-year-old woman, behind the wheel of a Jeep, crashed through the house, killing her 70-year-old husband or partner inside, NBC station KING 5 of Seattle reported.
The driver shot through the back of the house, injuring her 34-year-old daughter and her 40-year-old son-in-law, who were on the dock overlooking Lake Sammamish.
The car came to a stop, halfway submerged into the waters, but the driver and her 3-year-old grandchild, who was a passenger in the car, weren’t injured, according to a KING 5 reporter on the scene.
The two adults who were injured were rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. No identities have been released by the King County Sheriff's Office.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear, but the family’s neighbor Kevin Connelly told King 5 the driver “had her grandson in her lap — just moving the car — put it into gear and the car shot forward through the house and ended up in the lake about 40 feet behind there."
Lake Sammamish is a large lake surrounded by expensive homes, many of which have steep driveways coming down to them. The lake is about 20 miles east of Seattle.
