President Trump delivered remarks at the National Archives as part of the inaugural White House Conference on American History. Trump’s comments were critical of what they referred to as “cancel culture,” as well as critical race theory and the New York Times’ Pulitzer Prize-winning 1619 Project. In response, Trump announced he would be signing an executive order to establish the 1776 Commission, which he described as a national commission “to promote patriotic education.”
