Colorado animal sanctuary lets you 'adopt' a turkey as Thanksgiving alternative

Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary in Erie, Colo., is among a growing number of animal sanctuaries offering to “adopt” their turkeys as an alternative to being a Thanksgiving dish, with a $25 donation providing care throughout their lifetimes. The sanctuary’s education and engagement manager Lanette Cook said the number of sponsorships has doubled every year since it began in 2022.
