Online influencer calls out insurance company for denial of coverage

Lipedema is a chronic inflammatory condition that causes abnormal fat build up in the lower part of the body. Aurora McCausland says for her it leads to brain fog, fatigue, black outs, and debilitating pain. Her doctor recommended surgery. Her insurance company denied coverage saying it had not been proven to be medically necessary. NBC News’ Steve Patterson reports in our series “The Cost of Denial.”
