Secretary of Defense Austin: 'There are ways to be more precise' as civilian death toll rises in Gaza

In an interview with Lester Holt, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin says that while Gaza is a “complex environment” he noted “you can accomplish your objectives and still protect civilian population.” It comes as the death toll grows after the IDF said it carried out a “precise strike” on a U.N. school in Gaza for Hamas operatives it said participated in the October 7 attack. The interview is part of a wide-ranging discussion from Normandy on the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
