Senate votes to advance short-term funding bill, avoiding government shutdown

On Capitol Hill, the Senate moves forward with a 72-23 procedural vote to continue funding the government through December, therefore avoiding a shutdown. The short-term funding also includes 12 billion in emergency aid for Ukraine, two billion for disaster relief, and one billion for heating assistance to low-income families.
