Remembering former U.S. Senator Bob Dole

Following his time on the battlefield during World War II, former U.S. Senator Bob Dole gained a purpose that animated him long after his decades in Congress and those celebrated runs for president. It was greeting fellow veterans at the World War II memorial. “I care about people, and I guess I’ve sort of latched onto the veterans as a little public service I can still do,” he told Lester Holt in 2018.
