Jury deliberations underway in ‘Unite the Right’ trial

A federal court jury is now deliberating after weeks of testimony about the 2017 right-wing extremist violence in Charlottesville. The case was brought under a law that allows private lawsuits against people who conspire to violate civil rights. Lawyers for the defendants say there was no conspiracy and that their exchanges of racist social media posts before the rally amounted to protected speech.
