The Ice Bucket Challenge, which has been raising funds and awareness for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) while blowing up your social media feeds, broke all-time daily donation records for the second day in a row Tuesday, raising $8.6 million overnight for The ALS Association. Between July 29 and August 20, the grand total now sits at $31.5 million in donations to The ALS Association, and that number will likely only continue to grow. Those numbers are compared to $1.9 million raised during the same time period last year.
