Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump branded Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton a liar in an interview with Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press" Sunday.

"She lies like crazy about everything," Trump said. "She's a liar and everybody knows that."

He was referring to a comment Clinton made at Saturday night's Democratic primary debate, where she asserted that Trump's rhetoric about temporarily banning Muslims from entering the U.S. is feeding into the ISIS recruitment strategy.

"He is becoming ISIS’ best recruiter. They are going to people, showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists," Clinton said. Fact-checkers have by and large been unable to verify this claim. However, in a later interview, the chair of Clinton's campaign said the candidate stands by her comments. "I think that if you look at what is going on in the Middle East, the fact that Mr. Trump is on television over there all the time, the fact that ISIS is using him as a recruitment tool, I think it is a very fair charge," said John Podesta.

Trump also claimed that "hundreds of thousands of people have been killed" because of Clinton's decisions, citing conflict in Libya and "what's going on with the migration" as examples.

Trump is not the only one on the attack: He was the only GOP candidate criticized by name by Clinton and the other Democratic candidates at their debate Saturday evening.

In the "Meet the Press" interview, Trump also singled out fellow Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, whom he called a "weak and ineffective person."

"Jeb is an embarrassment to himself and his family," Trump said. "And the Republican party -- they're not even listening to Jeb."

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called Trump "bright and talented" -- and Trump returned the favor Sunday by calling him a "strong leader."

"What am I gonna say, he's a weak leader? He's making minced meat out of our president," Trump said. "I think it would be a positive thing if Russia and the United States actually got along and they could work to the mutual good of getting rid of ISIS."

Another person Trump had kind words for was Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who is neck-and-neck with Trump in some Iowa polls.

"Ted has been very nice to me," Trump said. "In almost every single instance he backs my ideas."
