Two members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Sunday laid out the challenges the United States will face in the fight against the Islamic terror group known as ISIS.
"You cannot negotiate with ISIS," Sen. Ron Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican who supported giving President Barack Obama authorization to arm and train moderate Syrian rebels, said oni NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday. "Their diplomacy consists of beheadings, crucifixions."
Democrat Chris Murphy of Connecticut, who opposed the authorization, explained his vote, describing the ongoing clash between the rebels and the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
"There's no doubt we need to have a strong response to [ISIS]," he said. "The question is whether getting involved in a very complicated sectarian civil war in Syria is necessary to the overall strategy."
