Russia is investigating allegations that the soft drink maker PepsiCo Inc. has forbidden retailers from selling products made by its competitors, the Vedomosti business daily reported Friday.

An official from the Federal Antimonopoly Service told the newspaper that the probe covers several Russian regions.

Dick Detwiler, a spokesman for PepsiCo's international division in Purchase, N.Y., said Friday the company has not been notified by Russian authorities about the reported investigation, but said "once we are, we will do whatever we can to address their concerns."

Russian antitrust authorities opened a similar case into PepsiCo rival Coca-Cola Co. in July, but subsequently said the U.S. beverage company had agreed to bring all of its contracts into compliance with Russian law.
