Shares of Morgan Stanley rose 1.7 percent before the bell on Monday after a source familiar with the matter said the investment bank was in talks with John Mack about his returning to the company as chief executive.
Mack would replace Philip Purcell, who announced his resignation on June 13 following a drawn-out battle with dissident shareholders who disliked his leadership.
An announcement regarding Mack’s appointment could come this week, the source told Reuters.
