Chief executives of U.S. companies were happier about business conditions in June compared with a month ago, according to a survey Tuesday by Chief Executive Magazine.
The monthly survey showed that the overall CEO confidence jumped about 11 percent to 165.1 in June, up from 146.8 in May for the second-largest jump in the survey’s history.
Nearly three-quarters of the 490 chief executives surveyed expected the economy to grow gradually over the next quarter, up from 61 percent a month ago. Nearly half of the executives polled also expected to increase capital spending over the next quarter.
The chief executives worried more about future business conditions than current business conditions. They also fretted over investment conditions due to recent market volatility and inflation concerns, the survey said.
