An Oregon member of Hair Club for Men has accused the company of failing to warn him during monthly visits to reglue his hairpiece that a malignant tumor was developing on his scalp.

James Milner says no one but Hair Club employees saw his scalp during the 10 years he was a Hair Club member but none of them told him “of the black, expanding growth” on his scalp, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday in Portland state court.

Milner said he finally saw the tumor after insisting that the Hair Club employee remove the hairpiece so that he could point out the source of a painful rash he had developed.

Milner had the tumor removed in May 2004. The lawsuit seeks more than $450,000 in compensation for his medical bills, emotional stress and damages.

A spokesman at Hair Club for Men in Portland could not be reached for comment.
