An unidentified eBay bidder has agreed to pay $92 for a chunk of what may have been the Rio Grande Valley’s first-ever white Christmas.

Bids closed Saturday for the basketball-size snowball now waiting next to the ice cream in Oscar Garza’s kitchen freezer. The bidder has 10 days to make good on the pledge.

Garza made the snowball on Dec. 25, Christmas Day, while visiting his parents in Brownsville.

Eighteen people bid on the ball of “Miracle Snow” between Jan. 3 and 7, starting at a few dollars.

Bidding also has closed for a Brownsville snowman, which went for $73.

Brownsville got several inches of snow in the predawn hours of Dec. 25 — the area’s first snow accumulation in 109 years.
