Air Jamaica executive David A. Banmiller was named the new president and chief executive of Aloha Airgroup Inc., the Honolulu-based parent company of Aloha Airlines, company officials said Tuesday.
Banmiller succeeds Glenn Zander who recently stepped down to devote more time to personal matters related to his wife's health. Zander now serves as vice chairman of the board of the privately held company.
Aloha chairman Han H. Ching said Banmiller's appointment is effective Nov. 14.
Banmiller has more than 30 years of experience in air travel and most recently served as Air Jamaica's executive vice president and chief operating officer. He also was president and CEO for Sun Country Airlines, Pan American World Airways and Sun Jet.
He also served as vice president of American Airlines' international division.
Aloha Airlines was founded in 1946 and has 3,700 employees. It is the leading interisland carrier in Hawaii, making about 620 interisland flights per week.
It also provides 140 trans-Pacific flights from Hawaii to the West Coast and the South Pacific.
