BROOKINGS -- The Yankton Gazelles girls' tennis team won three matches Saturday to end the dual portion of their season with a 19-5 record.

Yankton opened with a 9-0 victory over Todd County. The Gazelles scored an 8-1 win over Milbank and a 7-2 victory over Brookings.

The Gazelles played the duals without Jessica Mathison, Patricia Leibfarth and several JV players due to other activities.

"We faced a much-improved Todd County team and the best Milbank team we've seen in years," said Yankton head coach Tim Mulhair. "We had a great team effort against Brookings, especially at No. 1 and No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles."

Yankton won 17 of 18 singles matches and seven of nine doubles matches on the day. Melanie Rockne, Ronda Kachena and Gabbie Kachena were each perfect in both singles and doubles.

Yankton participates in the Eastern South Dakota Conference championships Friday at Watertown.
