More than 300 firefighters are battling a big brush fire burning up and down ridges along Mount Hamilton in the South Bay.

A brush fire east of San Jose has burned about 370 acres and is "running up and down ridges" in the Mount Hamilton area, according to a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman.

Ed Schell characterized the fire's spread as "burning right along" but said that because no structures are threatened, fighting the fire has been "relatively low-stress" and no injuries have been reported.

Firefighters responded around 2 p.m. Sunday to the area of Mount Hamilton and Kincaid roads, where grass, brush and trees provide plenty of fuel, Schell said. More than 300 firefighters are now battling the blaze.

He estimated that it would take at least two days to contain, control and mop up the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
