Republicans believe in evolution less now than they did five years ago, according to a new Pew Research poll.

Of the nearly 2,000 Americans polled, the study found that 43% of Republicans say they believe humans have evolved over time–11% down from those polled in 2009. That number falls below the overall statistic, which found that 60% of all Americans polled believe in evolution.

On the other side of the aisle, 67% of Democrats polled in 2013 said they believe in evolution–a number that is only slightly higher than the 64% who said they believed in evolution in 2009.

Pew also broke down their findings based on religious groups, and found that most Americans with religious affiliations believe in evolution over the idea that humans have existed in their present form since the beginning of time.
