Mike Enzi is taking some heat, and surprisingly it’s not from Liz Cheney.

The Wyoming Republican senator, who is facing the former vice president’s daughter in an upcoming GOP primary, is the target of a new ad by conservative super PAC Americans for Job Security.

The ad attempts to tie Enzi to Obama’s signature Affordable Care Act, showing Enzi in 2010 saying “I like the exchanges. These exchanges can be good.”

The narrator in the 30-second spot asks “Good?” and “Wyoming’s Obamacare exchange has the most expensive premiums in the country, and it’s marred by glitches.” It ends with the narrator urging: “Tell Mike Enzi we don’t like these liberal, big government Obamacare exchanges.”

There’s just one problem with the ad. Enzi voted against Obamacare three years ago and has backed many efforts to repeal the legislation. Ironically, it’s supposed to be Dems who are vulnerable to these types of ads, but now Enzi is finding himself in the same position.

Mike Allen of Politico, which first reported on the ad, told msnbc on Wednesday morning that Americans for Job Security is actually “undermining [Cheney] by putting out something so misleading.”

Polls show Enzi ahead of Cheney, who has been facing backlash from her own family regarding her opposition to gay marriage. The candidate’s lesbian sister, Mary, has said she won’t support the campaign.

Cheney released a new ad Monday featuring her daughters highlighting her family roots in the state.
