Ella gives her insight into why healthcare.gov ran into problems.
“You deserve better,” Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said as she began her testimony to the House Energy and Commerce Committee. “I apologize. I’m accountable to you for fixing these problems.”
Healthcare.gov has been off to a shaky start since its debut on October 1. The Affordable Care Act is a way to overhaul the nation’s complex health care system and provide health insurance to millions of people who are currently without health coverage. However, from the website glitches to some insurers canceling sub-par plans, the negatives have overshadowed the positive.
Cycle co-host Krystal Ball has not be shy about expressing her frustration with the website problems. “Seems to me that everyone who believes in this law, everyone who believes in universal health care, everyone who believes in the promise of the federal government to do big things ought to be outraged at this manifest incompetence,” Ball said last Thursday during her Cycle rant. “Just because it's our team who messed things up doesn't mean they should get a pass.”
