LOS ANGELES -- Matt Kemp has had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle, and the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder should be ready in time for the start of next season.

The team said the surgery occurred Monday in Charlotte, N.C., and involved removing several spurs, a loose body, and a microfracture procedure on a bone. Kemp will be in a splint for two weeks, then will wear a boot for another two weeks.

It's the second surgery for Kemp in less than two weeks. He had cleanup surgery on his left shoulder Oct. 8, a procedure that was planned before he was shut down for the postseason because of his sprained left ankle.

Kemp missed 52 games during the last two months of the season while on the disabled list because of the ankle.
