Cruz told the audience at the Values Voter Summit Friday that Republicans are winning on the fight over the shutdown and debt ceiling - one day after a NBC News/WSJ poll showed most Americans blame the GOP for the budget issues and the party's favorability rating is at an all-time low.
It’s shaping up to be a long weekend in Washington. There is finally some optimism brewing in the capitol as Democrats and Republicans did a lot of talking on day 11 of the government shutdown – but no action yet. After meeting with the President and a group of GOP senators at the White House Friday afternoon, Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters he thinks the House will pass legislation to end the shutdown in the next 24 hours, with some changes to Obamacare included. Graham also expects movement on the debt ceiling within the next 48 hours. Rep. Barbara Lee of California, Member of the House Budget Committee, Ezra Klein, MSNBC Policy Analyst and Columnist at the Washington Post, and David Simas, White House Deputy Senior Advisor for Communications and Strategy will join Chris Hayes to talk about the latest on the budget battle.
Plus: Senator Ted Cruz went to his alternate reality again Friday speaking at the Values Voter Summit ((VVS) in D.C. Cruz told the audience at the VVS that Republicans are winning the fight over the shutdown and debt ceiling – one day after a NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showed most Americans blame the GOP for the budget issues and the party’s favorability rating is at an all-time low. Statistical facts are of no concern to Cruz, though, who disputed the methodology of the poll in an interview Friday afternoon.
