The NBA center who most recently played for the Washington Wizards but was previously with the Boston Celtics became the first male athlete actively playing in a major American sport to come out as openly gay. Collins continued, “I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation.”
