The NRA’s Tweets and Facebook posts prompt users to change their profile photos to the image above in a public show of support for the right to bear arms.

The timing of the campaign is particularly cringe-worthy to gun control advocates: Thursday morning marked the release of the Newtown, Conn. search warrant findings, as well as the unveiling of the Bloomberg-backed Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ new ads featuring parents of children killed in the Newtown mass shooting.
