Some U.S. cities recently plagued by the housing crisis are seeing a population boom. Forbes is out with its list of the fastest growing cities. Here are the top five cities and how their populations have grown since 2000:

• Charlotte, North Carolina: population is up almost 33 percent since 2000
• Orlando, Florida: up 34 percent
• Las Vegas, Nevada: up 44 percent
• 2. Austin, Texas: up 45 percent
• 1. Raleigh, North Carolina: up 48 percent
